If you've whispered into Santa's ear about that new Windows notebook on your Christmas list this year, Gateway may wind up playing elf as it delivers a pair of new touchscreen-equipped models, just in time for the holidays.
Acer-owned Gateway announced its first touch-enabled LT and NV Series notebook models today, featuring frameless, edge-to-edge HD displays in two screen sizes, each with 10-point touch capabilities.
With its 10.1-inch LCD display, the smaller of the duo is the Gateway LT41P, featuring a 1366 x 768 resolution powered by Intel Celeron processors and capable of up to five hours of battery life.
Just over an inch thick and weighing a mere 2.83 pounds, the LT41P can be purchased complete with 2GB RAM and 500GB hard drive starting at only $ 329.99.
Bigger is better
For those seeking a little more screen real estate from their new notebook, the Gateway NV570P offers a spacious 15.6-inch widescreen HD LED-backlit touch display powered by Intel Core processors.
Starting at $ 449.99 with 8GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 128MB of dedicated memory, the NV570P can be configured with up to 750GB of hard drive storage as well as a super-multi DVD drive capable of producing M-DISC archival quality optical media.
Both Windows 8 notebooks are internet-ready out of t he box with 802.11b/g/n W-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity and HD webcams for video chatting with HDMI and dual USB 2.0 ports; NV570P models also come equipped with a high-speed USB 3.0 port.
Available now from Gateway's online store, the LT41P and NV570P series bundle Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 Edition software, offering on-the-go access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote at no additional cost.
